Custom Mirrors, Designed and Made for Your Space

Made-to-measure mirrors for homes and businesses across Johannesburg and Gauteng

Some walls don't suit a standard mirror. The vanity is 1,340 mm wide. The alcove is narrower at the top than the bottom. The studio wall runs eight metres. Or the design calls for an arch in bronze glass that no shop keeps in stock.

A custom mirror is made for that exact space: cut to your measurements, shaped to your design, and finished and framed to suit the room. At Mirror Art Gallery, we've been making mirrors in our Fourways workshop since 2010. You tell us what you have in mind, we help you work through the details, then we make it and install it.

What Goes Into a Custom Mirror

A custom mirror is built from a specification, not picked from a shelf. Most orders come down to six decisions. You don't need every answer before you contact us. Knowing the first two or three is usually enough to start.

Decision
Your options
Worth thinking about

Size

Any width and height to suit the wall, vanity or space

Measure in millimetres and note anything in the way

Shape

Rectangle, square, arch, round, oval, hexagon, leaf, fan or your own profile

How the shape relates to the furniture or opening below it

Mirror colour

Silver, gold, bronze or grey

Tinted glass changes the mood of a room, not only the reflection

Edge

Polished edge or bevelled edge

A bevel adds definition, especially on frameless mirrors

Frame

Frameless, steel, wooden or ornate moulded frames in a range of finishes

Match existing fittings, taps, handles or light fixtures

Extras and fixing

LED backlighting, block mounting and other fixing methods

Wall type and mirror weight affect how it should be mounted

Mirror Shapes and Designs

Shape does more work than most people expect. It changes how a mirror sits against the furniture below it, how it reads from across the room and whether it feels decorative or practical.

  • Rectangle and square: the most flexible option. Works as a single bathroom or wardrobe mirror, or scaled up to cover a full wall.
  • Arch and arch-top: softens a room and adds height. Popular in entrance halls, dressing areas and above basins.
  • Round: a clean, balanced shape that suits bathrooms, powder rooms and smaller feature walls.
  • Oval and capsule: a softer alternative to a rectangle, often used above single or double vanities.
  • Hexagon and geometric: stronger character, well suited to modern interiors, salons and hospitality spaces.
  • Leaf, fan and organic shapes: statement pieces for living areas and reception spaces. See our shaped designer mirrors.
  • Your own profile: send us a sketch, a drawing or a reference photo and we’ll discuss what’s possible.

Is a Custom Mirror the Right Choice?

If a standard size fits your wall and the look you want, a stock mirror may be the simpler option. A custom mirror makes sense when:
